DAY 1 : A JOURNEY BEGINS

Those that know me know that I never miss out on once-in-a-lifetime experiences ... the Pushcar Camel Festival in Rajasthan, a girls trip to Morocco, seeing Cuba before it changes, hot air ballooning for my Dad's 75 the birthday, helicopter rides over the mighty Zambesi, being chased by hippos on the Okavango River, attending a Hindu wedding in Kuala Lumpur...the list does and will continue to go on!

So when invited by my lovely friend of nearly 40 years – Julie – to her daughters wedding in Israel of course I was going. The fact that both Julie & I were pregnant at the same time with our first borns being only 2 weeks apart clinched the deal especially as that baby Rachel was now to be a bride!

Israel of course was far too dangerous for Kings so a call was put out to the girlfriends and Sandy (who I have known even longer than Julie) is to join me on this adventure. We are going to have soooo much fun!!!

So as I sit here in the Bangkok airport with a 9 hr wait between connections Sandy is winging her way business class on Emirates via Rome to join me tomorrow in Jerusalem. The fact that I have already lost (but found) my passport at this airport security gate maybe more of a reflection of a fitful sleep last night and the thought that maybe tonight on the El Al flight may not be better – let's hope that the wine is more palatable than on Thai Air and that the drugs kick in!!!

Well that's taken up one hour ...only another 7 to fill ... Scrabble anyone?
