0900: Depart Coolgardie Visitor Centre and continue your adventure to Ora Banda on dirt roads via Kunanulling and the beginning of the Golden Quest Discovery Trail http://www.goldfieldstourism.com.au/Attractions/tabid/62/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/12/Goldfields-Exhibition-Museum.aspx

1000: Arrive at Ora Banda Historic Inn. Ora Banda (Band of Gold) has an iconic Outback stone hotel with a rich history to discover, both recent and from the Goldrush days. http://orabanda.com.au/

1200: Visit the Achievable Outback Café for a Barista Coffee stop in Menzies before making your way to Lake Ballard and the "Inside Australia" exhibit and picnic lunch.

1330: Lake Ballard & Picnic Lunch. Be sure to bring your hat and sunscreen. Each sculpture is unique and the scene from the top of Snake Hill is awesome. Lake Ballard is north east of Menzies and famous as the location of the 'Inside Australia' sculpture display commissioned by the Perth International Art Festival in 2003 as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations. The UK artist, Antony Gormley, has had many worldwide exhibits all featuring statues of humans in one form or another. He is the artist that created the 'Angel of the North' statue alongside the motorway in Newcastle, UK. Antony scanned 100 naked local Menzies residents. He then processed the digital files by applying some software that reduced their body width by two thirds and 51 individual moulds were produced and placed over 10 square kilometres in Lake Ballard. The result is a representation of the inner core of each person, set in the inner core of Australia. The sculptures display man in this harsh environment and their relationship to the landscape.

1500: Depart Lake Ballard for Leonora & Gwalia

1700: Arrive Leonora and Gwalia for a tour of Leonora Gwalia Historical Precinct. Sunset is a great time to take some photos of this unique prospectors ghost town. Gwalia is by any measure, a truly fascinating ghost town. The town can also lay claim to once having been the second largest gold mine in Western Australia and the first with a state hotel and tramway. Hoover House in Gwalia was the old mine manager's house (built in 1898/99) and is now a restored bed and breakfast run by the Gwalia Historical Association. The house was named after Herbert Hoover, the original mine manager who later went on to an even more illustrious career as a President of the United States.
